That gem is Mongol directed by Sergei Bodrov whose name sounds familiar, but I haven't seen any of his films. Mongol was also nominated for best foreign film earlier this year at the academy awards, but who really cares (cause they didn't nominate 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.) Mongol is a biopic if I'm using the right word about Genghis Khan. It focuses more the early life of the great Khan of Mongolia. This comes recommend if your a fan of the movies that feature epic storytelling and battle scenes. However, It does drag a bit and it is no where near a perfect film.

My Top Ten Movies of 2007

This is the rough cut. Coming up first is Scalped.

Scalped Volume 1

I remember when I first saw Scalped #1 on the shelf at the comic shop. The cover looked cool, but nothing about the comic really spiked my interest. I was probably thinking that's another mediocre Vertigo series. Vertigo does publish some good stuff though and if you think about Vertigo comics still being published you think about 100 Bullets, Y: The Last Man, Fables, and DMZ. The comics just mentioned are all amazing but they really don't hold up to Scalped if you really think about it. Scalped is just an amazing comic and the first trade collecting issues 1-5 is available for only $10. Jason Aaron the fantastic writer is offering money back guarantee on the first trade so there's really no reason not to pick this one up immediately. Just about as good as comics can get.

Pax Romana #1

I didn't even talk about the Scalped plot did I hehe. Pax Romana is based in the future where scientist's working for the Vatican make a time machine. After much discussion betwixt the pope and his higher ups, the Pope decides to send back a team. They are to give Catholicism a better history by changing what happened during the crusades and such. The whole comic is fascinating and if the premise interests you even in the slightest pick this one up. A little bit wordy though, but in my opinion this has more interesting dialogue then some comics with 1/4 of the words.

A quick look at There Will Be Blood. This is not a review but a recommendation. This is an absolute must see. Daniell Day-Lewis gives the performance of the decade in what very well could be the best movie this decade. If you could only see one movie at the theater this year, go see this (Or Jesse James hehe).

Recent Reads

I've recently read Shortcomings and Exit Wounds, but I didn't even think of reviewing them so will see what comes out of this. I couple trades I've just finished include: Y: The Last Man Volumes 4 & 5, DMZ Volume 2, and Scalped Volume 1. I'm just going to review whatever I feel like starting with Shortcomings.

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;

Exit Wounds

I'm behind on posting because I haven't read that many comics lately. Right after I finish this post I am going to finish the comic I am currently reading (Plastic Man, Kyle Baker). I have some new comics to read which I will try to review shortly. Now a couple of short movie reviews.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut

I was gonna Netflix this and maybe buy the 5 disc HD-DVD or Blue Ray discs when I have a player, but this was playing at a movie theater. I haven't watched Blade Runner in a couple of years so I couldn't tell you the main differences between the older directors cut and the final cut, but Blade Runner is just an amazing movie period and should be on any Sci-Fi fans must watch list.

Juno

Juno's been getting lots of hype and I wasn't really sure if it would meet my expectations. It sure does and if the short commercials or trailers peak your interest even in the slightest go see this movie immediately because I can think of no possible reason why anyone wouldn't love love love this movie.

Comics (Boring Headlines FTW)

Just finished a couple of things. Namely, Heavy Liquid, 100 Bullets Volume 2, and the After the Cape mini-series.

Heavy Liquid

Heavy Liquid is pretty good. The only Paul Pope I've read previously is Batman Year 100. I liked both Heavy Liquid and Batman Year 100. I think I like the art in Year 100 better (both comics have crazy awesome art), but then I like the Heavy Liquid story better (both comics have crazy awesome stories). I don't think I will try and do a plot summary of Heavy Liquid because it is pretty complex, but not overtly hard to follow. Batman Year 100 is probably more accessible and readily available to most comics readers so definitely check that out if not both.

100 Bullets Volume 2

Now 100 Bullets is a good comic mind you, but is it really great. I will assuredly read the next trade, but my library only has up to around Volume 7. I wouldn't mind buying the rest (I think V. 11 came out recently) if it's really that good? I hear people are re-reading all their trades to remember what's going on. It could be a damn fine comic so why not re-read 10 trades.

After the Cape

Issue 1 has such a great cover doesn't it? After the Cape is about an alcoholic with super powers who gets kicked off a super hero team well for being an alcoholic. This is mildly recommenced. I picked these 3 issues up for $6, but probably not worth $12 though.

The Spirit # 11

Another great cover by the way, this is a little bit old, but a remarkable issue by my standards. The first 8 issues of the Spirit were really good in my opinion and issue 11 is up there with the best of the bunch. Read this comic if at all possible.

A New Post of Sorts and Variety

I recently finished some comics, namely: DMZ Volume 1 (very good by the way) Dynamo 5 Volume 1 (I don't know if I'm gonna start buying this monthly, but if your looking for a good super hero comic pick this up) and lastly Buddha Volume 1 (This is a Manga (don't know to much about anime, manga) It was a very fast read for it's 400 pages, but still short good, not great)

I'm gonna throw up a couple pictures and talk, about why I haven't read these particular comics when I've had some of them for more then a month.

I actually read Suburban Glamour #2 yesterday and oh how I love the art. I am really looking forward to reading Phonogram sometime drawn by the Writer/Artist of SG. I'm sure Northlanders Brian Wood's new series is good. I just loved Demo and what I've read of DMZ so I hope this doesn't disappoint.

I actually don't read Buffy, still watching Season 3. I'm gonna and watch all the subsequent seasons by this summer. And Black Summer, I liked the early issues a whole lot, but this this series has lost it's steam. Warren Ellis could really have one of the best mini-series's of the year if he can pull the finale together.

Umbrella Academy is a fun comic with great art, I'm sure It will be good. I really liked maybe the first 8 issues of the Spirit, the last couple not so much. I heard this issue was particularly good, and It better be considering it's Darwyn Cooke's second to last issue on the title.

Crossing Midnight had a great debut issue. One of the best I've read in a long time. The series wasn't really going anywhere and I was about to drop it. Then the last story arc was near flawless and the best in the series so far. This is issue 1 of new arc which I how is just as good as the previous one. Madman is great and I hope to get this so I can immense myself further into this great series.

All-Star Superman, perfection month in and month out. This would be near the top if not at the top of comics I have to read. The only reason I haven't read this is because I was in the mood for other titles. World War Hulk is pretty awesome, I like it some, but I guess not that much when I could have read the final issue a long, long time ago.

Not expecting much from this except maybe one or two ridiculously funny lines. I guess my excuse for reading is that maybe I'll see Frank Miller somewhere (He's Directing the Spirit Movie in Albuquerque where I live) and I'll have to have read his latest comic. Daredevil is a pretty great comic, but it's really just holding me off till the next Criminal issue hits in February.

Avengers Illumanti leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The last two issues did nothing for me and I wish I would have never have bought this in the first place. Well this is the last issue and I think I decided to keep buying this after obtaining issue 3 out the 5. I would never touch this kind of comic now. My taste in comics has changed and it would be rare for me to buy anything but the exceptional super hero comic. I just like comics such as DMZ and Criminal so much better. After the Cape 2 and the three issues of the first After the Cape the mini-series. The mini-series was obtained at a lower then cover price value so why not. The first was issue was pretty good too.

This is just a graphic novel that I'm reading, by Paul Pope. The only Pope I've read is Batman Year 100, Great art slightly above average story. This is going in the same direction, but I still have a long ways to go.

This post seemed pretty long to me, so hit me up with any suggestions in the comments have a good week.

A Few Reviews

I have I hard time writing reviews longer than a couple sentences (good reviews at least). If someone gave me any writing tips (or general blogging tips) I would be very appreciative. These are going to be really short recommendations on comics I've recently read. So here it goes.

My Faith In Frankie

This was a fun comic to read. I was expecting a little more from Mike Carey who writes Crossing Midnight, but still a good comic by my standards.

Usagi Yojimbo Volume 1

I've heard great things about Usagi Yojimbo and I definitely enjoyed the first volume. Usagi Yojimbo is about a samurai rabbit. Just the premise would keep me reading. In the first volume the writing feels like something is lacking. The art is quite awesome though. I will keep reading Usagi Yojimbo because I'm sure it gets even better.

100 Bullets Volume 1

I know this is kind of old (Volume 11 was recently released) but I just started reading this. 100 bullets is about multiple characters who have had some kind of wrongdoing done to them (awkward sentence). A mysterious guy gives each character information about who ruined their life, a gun permit, and 100 untraceable bullets. The premise is very interesting is executed very well. If you see this at your library check it out (thats where I found it). I will absolutely check out more 100 Bullets volumes in the future.

Good-bye Chunky Rice

I really liked Good-bye Chunky Rice by Craig Thompson. Craig Thompson wrote Blankets which I hear is very good, which I plan to read soon. Chunky Rice is about a turtle and a mouse who are best friends. One of the characters decides to move somewhere else in order to enter the next phase of his life. The comic is about friendship and saying goodbyes and at that level it surpasses expectations. This may not be as compelling as say Maus (GCR is completely different type of animal story by the way) but If your looking for a sweet and equally funny comic definitely check this out.

I'm behind on my monthly comics and I have yet to read the latest Wonder Woman or All-Star Superman. Hopefully I'll be back on within the week and post a different kind of review then ever before. Maybe on Son Of Rambow that hopefully won't be a monstrosity like my No County For Old Men and or all my reviews. Bye for Now

Most Awesome Week Ever

This week has been all kinds of awesome. Mario Galaxy came out, Galaxy is the best Wii game and could be my favorite game this year (not sure if I like Galaxy or Portal better). Scott Pilgrim V.4 came out. I love me some Scott Pilgrim and this volume does not disappoint. I'm not going to do a very long review because all you need to know is that it's awesome. The last great thing that happened was No Country For Old Men(See Review).

Scott Pilgrim is amazing. If you haven't read the first 3 volumes buy them now. They are some of the best comics money can buy, and V.4 is no slouch. This is Scott Pilgrim as you know and love him and you can't get much better then that. I don't really have anything to say other then how great a writer/aritist Bryan Lee O'Malley. O'Malley pictures were always excellent, but here there even better.

I love the Coen Brothers. My favorites being Miller's Crossing, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Blood Simple, and The Man Who Wasn't There. Right now I would probably put No Country For Old Men in the middle of the above list. This an excellent piece of film making. I would love to see this again at the theaters to get even more out of it. No Country is a thriller, but this not an average thriller by any means. I don't want to give anything away so I won't. It's not for everyone, but nothing good really is. Go see this movie at the Theater. It's better then most movies that have come out this year, and I can see this being on of my favorite movies for years to come. I know this review is short, but I hope to sit down and write a in-depth analysis of the movie after thinking about it a lot and or upon watching it again. Bye for now.

Comics I Really Like

Whiteout

Whiteout came out in 1998. Just recently, (July) Oni came out with Whiteout: Definitive edition. I haven't seen any reviews except for Matthew Brady's over at Warren Peace Sings the Blues. By the way Matthew Brady is many favorite comic's blogger and anyone looking for a good blog to read should give his a try. On to the review: Whiteout is a murder mystery set on Antartica. The main character Carrie Stetko is a very engaging character (Kate Beckinsale is cast as Carrie in the movie). The story is mostly about Carrie trying to find the murderer before he and nearly everyone else leaves Antarctica for the winter. Whiteout is entertaining with interesting characters and a very compelling story. Steve Lieber's art is quite good and he is definitely artist I would seek out in the future. I've never read anything Greg Rucka, but I've been meaning to read Gotham Central co-written by Ed Brubaker one of my favorite writers. Whiteout is a very good comic and anyone interested in a really good crime story should definitely seek this out.

Criminal # 10

This is the last issue of the current arc. I'm not sure if I like this arc or previous arc better, but they both are quite excellent. Criminal is my favorite comic being published and if you haven't given Criminal a try yet what's wrong with you. This issue didn't bring anything new to the series, but it was still an amazing read and offered a satisfying conclusion to the story arc. Whats really Criminal (thought of that during the second read through) is that I have to wait till February for the next issue.

Thats it for now. Hopefully I will review some more comics this weekend. I really wish No County for Old Men was showing in my town, but I guess I will have to wait till next week so long.

Lars and the Real Girl

The movie is about Lars (Ryan Gosling) who orders a life-size doll off the internet who then becomes his girlfriend. If the premise of the movie sounds appealing then by all means go see it but don't go expecting a mean-spirited comedy. Lars is quite funny, but it is still the sweetest movie I've seen all year. Something else about the experience, me and my Dad (Both Guys) cried during the ending where as my sister and mother didn't shed a tear. They both liked the movie, but my Mom said maybe me and my dad cried because we could relate to the main character more so then she could. A big part of the reason Lars is such a good movie is because of Ryan Gosling (I don't think I've seen anything of his before but I've been meaning to watch Half-Nelson) Gosling is excellent in this and I could definitely see him go on to great things. Lars is not everyone, but for certain people it is really quite enjoyable and one of my favorite movies of the year.

Comics and Other Amusing Anecdotes

Umbrella Academy 2

I still really like this comic. It was a very fun issue and I am on board for the rest of the mini series. The story wasn't quite as entertaining and the art wasn't quite as special as issue one (I loved how Gabriel Ba drew a young Umbrella Academy) A good issue all in all.

The Sword

I don't know what to think about The Sword. The story intrigued me (enough to get the next issue) though nothing really more then that. I could see this 2 year series shaping up quite nicely though, so hopefully I'll look forward to future issues.

Suburban Glamour

I really like Suburban Glamour. The writing could definitely be improved, but it never had a dull moment. I really love the Suburban Glamour art I mean really love and even if the story was terrible (which it isn't) I would look forward to issue 2. Pick of the week.

The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford

If you were contemplating on going to see this or the 5 actually really good looking movies out, go see this. This is one of my favorites of the year. My favorite being Once a superb Irish musical (not really but kind of). If you were disappointed by the much hyped 3:10 to Yuma like I was then go see Assassination. Assassination is a western, but don't let that fool you. This is much different then 3:10. This a more of a character driven movie and a very good one at that. I will not go into to much details on the plot. All you need to know is that Casey Affleck gives an amazing performance of Robert Ford. Anyway I love this movie and I hope you will too.

A Post of Sorts

Comics from Wednesday October 17

I ended up getting three comics this week. These included Suburban Glamour #1, The Sword #1, and The Umbrella Academy #2. Suburban Glamour looks interesting so I will give the first issue a try. The first issue of Umbrella Academy was surprisingly amazing so I expect this to be just as good. We got the Sword after the guy at the comic shop recommended it saying how good the Luna Brothers are. The Girls looked interesting upon seeing it but I've never read it, so I will give this series a shot. Early review from my Dad was that it was excellent and could shape up to being a better series then Crossing Midnight (A Current Favorite). I didn't even get Marvel Zombies which I don't really expect much out of. If it turns out to be something special I can always buy the trade. I have recently been made fun for saying that I have to much respect for the genre to make my own Zombie movie. And it's true I love me some Zombie movies. Back in a couple of days for more reviews.

Recent Comics

Runaways 28

Runaways is one of my favorite comic series. At least when Brian K. Vaughan was writing it. The first two issues of Whedon's arc were sub par, maybe not sub par compare to normal comics put in comparison to Vaughan's runaways in definitely felt lacking. Now with issue 28 my Runaways are back in good form. Now I haven't read or watched everything Whedon (saw Serenity, loved it then watched Firefly probably even better then Serenity, read Astonishing X-Men loved the early arcs, now it is just piling together with mainstream team comics, I still love Buffy though, and I am currently watching Season 3). Now I have faith in Whedon to finish off the arc after this very good issue thanks Joss Whedon.

Action Comics 856

Now I know this came out last week but it sure is worth getting. This Bizarro arc of Action Comics is really well done and something I will be looking forward to in the coming months. Not quite yet a must read, I will let you know if it's really worth getting a collected version in the months to come.

Black Summer 3

Oh Black Summer how I used to love you. Issue Zero of Summer started off with a bang that kept me reading (The assassination of George Bush). Issue 1 came out and I loved it. I'm not really sure why I loved it so much, I just did. I expected Issues 2 & 3 to be excellent, but I was wrong. It's not a terrible comic by any means, it just isn't great either. I'm gonna say I'll give it one more issue, but I'll probably end up buying the whole mini series regardless of if it get's better or not. Please get better so I don't have to contemplate getting issue 5.

Weirdsville

That's it for this week's comic reviews, but I have one movie to recommend. The movie is Weirdsville. In a quick description of the movie I guess you could say call it a Canadian Trainspotting. Weirdsville is so much funnier then Trainspotting though. Weirdsville starts out Satanist's doing human sacrifices and then gets even weirder and funnier. Weirdville is a really fun time at the movies and I expect many people to enjoy this movie in years to come.

Various Ramblings

Dear Unsatisfied Reader (I know that sounds really bad but I need a name like "Gentle Reader" from Arrogant Self-Reliance which I enjoy reading very much) I haven't even been to all my favorite comic blogs since last Wednesday so I'm really behind on reading blogs so at least there is an excuse for not blogging. Now here is a rant about the evolution of the blog and how I will try to start posting regularly.

I know I haven't posted in quite awhile so here it goes. My last post being about Black Sheep
which was a movie I enjoyed very much. So it seems like my blog posts aren't just about comics they are about movies and other media. I don't think I've talked about video games or tv shows before this but I am going to start posting about these things. This blog started off as a comics blog because comics were something I buy every week. I definitely don't buy video games every week but I play video games every week. I also don't go to the movie theater every week but I probably watch at least one movie every week. I don't think I'll have a weekly netflix movie post, because no one is probably interested in reading about some old boring movie anyway. A weekly Movie section wouldn't be any different then the old graphic novels so that is something I will give a try. Now I won't be abandoning comics I still have most of last weeks comics in a stack in my room which I will soon get through. And I eat Criminal up. Criminal was always one of my favorite comics but now it is my favorite comic period. Here are some individual reviews.

Persepolis

So this is a couple years old but I will review it hear anyway. So Persepolis starts out with Marji a soon to be teenager living in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Persepolis is classified as a graphic memoir and It taught me about Islam and just how it is living in Iran. Persepolis doesn't grab me the way some comics have but I still looked forward to reading it. My sister thought the first 30 pages or so were too political and more of a history lesson then anything. Persepolis is political and often sort of a history lesson, but is it ever boring?. No Persepolis is very well scripted and has it's fair share of light-hearted anecdotes. About half-way through I didn't know what I thought about Persepolis but by the time I finished I knew I loved it. So is is for everyone? No but There is a Persepolis animated movie coming out sometime and I will take my sister to it. Maybe then she will read Persepolis. There is a also Persepolis 2 which I hope to read in the near future.

Fido

Persepolis to Fido. Fido is a zombie comedy. Fido is very well done and very funny. I really can't think of anyone who wouldn't like this movie. Fido is a period movie where everyone has a zombie. Some for manual labor some for other things. A husband and wife wonderfully played by both Carrie-Anne Moss and Dylan Baker (Drive) get a zombie to help around the house. Their son befriends the zombie and names him Fido. The rest of the movie is mostly about the kid and his various adventures with Fido. Fido is recommenced to anyone looking for a fun time with a zombie flick.

In the next couple of days I expect to review a few comics and talk about Half-Life 2 episode 2 so have an exciting week bye.

Black Sheep

I know I haven't posted in a long time but here's a movie review. Oh and if you want a comic to read pick up The Umbrella Academy which is surprisingly amazing. More on that later.
Black Sheep was not quite what I expected. I had thought this was a pg13 horror comedy but I was mistaken. This was definitely deserves it's R rating with plenty of delightful animal violence. Black Sheep is about some sheep who are genetically enhanced and then just start attacking people. If that sounds like an acceptable movie premise to you then you will love this movie. Black Sheep was very funny and is now one of my favorite horror comedy's. It doesn't quite make it into the Dead Alive, Evil Dead 2 caliber of movie but how can you not like killer sheep. If horror comedy is your fancy this is highly recommened.

Comics From 9/12

I know I'm doing this a week late but I've been reading Y The Last Man trades so at least I was reading an amazing comic when I should have gotten this stuff reviewed. Ok start off with

Justice Society of America #9

This was surprisingly good. I'm getting kind of tired of mainstream super hero comics and was expecting this to be average. I was happily surprised.

Suicide Squad #1

I've never read Suicide Squad before but I could definitely see people liking this comic. I don't know what happened I just couldn't get into it so #2 is a no for me

Daredevil #100

Issue #82 of Daredevil came out Feb. 2006. I probably got it in March or April after the cool dude at the comic shop recommended it. Ed Brubaker had just started writing Daredevil and after these early issues of Brubaker was one of my favorite writers. Brubaker has consistently kept Daredevil and Iron Fist at the top of good comics and has shown that he is the best writing Criminal. So end rant. Daredevil 100 is super long with a four dollar price tag. It is oh so worth for just a little longer (than usual) Brubaker story and about 5 guest artists with 2-4 page spreads. It also has 2 previously published Daredevil comics which I didn't even read. So amazing issue of an amazing comic

America's Next Top Model started today and I already have a favorite. Heather looks very promising and I hope she makes it very far. More on that next week when I can really look at everyone more closely. Thursday is new comics day for me so even another excuse to not blog until next week. So bye loyal reader(s) filled with enthusiasm and anonymity.

A Very Short Post

Man I was supposed to be back on here last week but I have a perfectly good reason. The new comics didn't come out until Thursday. Well I didn't end up buying any new comics but one comic from last week. Avengers: The Initiative #5 I know I know generic mainstream Marvel but this is actually pretty entertaining. This is the best Marvel I'm getting besides Brubaker so if you want a fun team title definitely pick this up. Oh and here and here are two Joss Whedon myspace freebies. And I was totally busy this whole week playing Bioshock which I really need to beat. Oh and I was reading the Demo trade which was 12 one-shots by Brian Wood. Maybe I will do a full review on that but it was excellent if you were wondering. On to the reviews.

Action Comics 855
We don't normally read Action Comics but we picked this up because it is Bizarro and Bizarro is awesome and Geoff Johns certainly doesn't hurt. So this was a good comic. The art by Eric Powell (The Goon will read this someday) gave this comic a good feel which I really dig. The story is above average but it doesn't really compare to the current Bizarro arc in All-Star Superman. Action Comics was still good but compared to All-Star Superman, probably the best mainstream super-hero comic (that I read) It's kind of a let down.

Punks The Comic

This will be quick. This comic is strange. I think strange is sometimes bad but strange can also be oh so good. If your open to something out of the ordinary this is a must read.

Mice Templar 1

I don't know what to think about this comic. The art was good and the story was interesting. You can't really go wrong with sword fighting mice. If that sounds like a fresh idea to you then you will love this comic. It just never crosses the line from good to great in my opinion .

Bye I will be back on by this Friday for sure but go read Punks the Comic.

Chuck

I went to Comic Con for the first time this summer and it was amazing. At Comic Con we saw four new TV pilots. These were Reaper, Chuck, Bionic Woman, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Chuck and Reaper were the two best shows. The Sarah Connor Chronicles seemed like and average action show but with Summer Glau as a Terminator I will definitely watch the first few episodes. Bionic Woman seemed very promising before I watched the pilot but now it could go either way. Katee Sackhoff was very good as the first Bionic Woman though. Now Reaper and Chuck are two very similar shows. They both are very comical and two shows I will be watching unquestionable this fall, but today I will be reviewing the pilot of Chuck.

Chuck (mild spoilers ahoy) is the kind of show I can really relate to. The episode starts off with the main character trying to escape from his own birthday party. This is because the people at the party are his sister's friends, and not his. Going back to my own life I realized that I should try and get more friends. During the summer whilst reading something online I came across a guide on how to get friends on the first day of school. I remember reading mostly all of it and I totally tried some of the tips on how to "Make a good first impression." I don't have any friends because I get judged "subconsciously". That seems like the answer to all the problems of life or my life or at least my life at school. Well I did't even chew gum because I sure didn't want to look like a "cow chewing cud" which I totally think about my Dad because he is a gum fanatic. And I did this all for nothing because most of the people I met on the first day I will never see again. Yeah I got my schedule changed which doubled how many people would be "subconsciously" judging me. And I even have a mullet which should totally help me get lots of friends. Well no new friendships came about and thats alright because the people I know already are totally the coolest kids in school or so they tell me. Oh and back to Chuck, Chuck has cool sister who tries to get him dates which reminds me of my cool sister, and who I will totally live with when I'm 25, yay just like my buddy Chuck. Another amusing anictdote is fact that Chuck's sister's boyfriend is awesome. He does everything awesome such as mountain climbing and sky diving. Captain Awesome is totally my new hero.

The main premise of the show is that Chuck has a secret government database somehow downloaded into his brain. They have mostly talked about bombs and Soviet demolitions experts but I'm sure the Alien Autopsy and the so forth will be included in latter episodes. Also another Firefly alumni besides with Summer Glau appearing on a new tv show, is none other then Adam Baldwin who brilliantly plays a ruthless CIA agent. This episode of Chuck included very witty brother and sister dialogue, knife fights and even car chases. I will have to see where the show goes from here. If Chuck turns into an all action show that would be a disappointment. Because Chuck's interaction between his sister, Captain Awesome and fellow workers of the "nerd herd" (think Best Buy "Geek Squad"), along with the action sequences (pretty good for a TV show) are what make a really good show. There are even references to video games, movies, and even comic books for fellow nerds. So this fall when Chuck comes on, you owe it to yourself to watch the first episode.

Battlestar Galactica Razor

At this website you can choose the dvd cover for the upcoming Battlestar Galactica Razor a 2-hour TV movie. I picked cover B (the picture above) because the hand under the chin is very underused in dvd covers today. I'm only midway through season 2 but this is totally my favorite show or at least an amazing show anyway, but those season 3 dvd's better be out soon or their will be Grievous Bodily Harm.

American Born Chinese

They had this at the school library and I checked it out. This was the first comic I have gotten from the school library not that it was very hard to choose because I really didn't see that many other good comics or Graphic Novels as the librarian said hahahahah. Oh and they also had Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughn which is amazing and highly recommended.

So American Born Chinese was very good and often funny. It had three individual stories that interwove by the end of the book. One part was about a Chinese boy and his day to day experiences. The second part was about a normal kid with a crazy Foreign Exchange student. And lastly It was about A Monkey King and his journeys to achieve the twelve disciplines of kung fu and related things. This third part can become tedious at times but was never bad.

I read ABC very fast despite it's 230something pages, I would imagine I read it in under and hour. So if you can get this at the library. Also this is a great comic for the kids where even someone older can enjoy it (because I did). The art it simplistic but still good. And the dialogue is most clever. So this is Recommended.

Comics I Review (Wednesday 8/22/07) (All the way from last week Ha Ha)

Black Summer 2

This was not quite as good as BS number 1 but still a good comic. This comic was a little bit darker and not as much fun as the previous issues, but it still had great Darwyn Cooke art and an entertaining plot. If you haven't read The Spirit yet you definitely should buy the trade.

Astonishing X-Men #22 (Even though I said I bought 23 last week)

Kinda boring in my opinion even though it had a big final page. A really liked Astonishing X-Men For awhile but now it's just lost steam. I can't wait till Warren Ellis starts writing sorry Whedon.

Immortal Awesome Fist 8

Though this issue lacked the Kung Fu Awesomeness of other issues it was still quite good. Just Buy The Trade.

Crossing Midnight 10

I was just saying how I was gonna drop this comic and then this amazing issue comes out. Crossing Midnight has always been good but has never been truly great. If this arc continues to be as good as this issue this is totally one of the best comics for sale.

Batman 667 &8

I haven't been reading Batman before this but now I will at least finish the arc out. This seemed like a good starting point so this is recommended.

Mouse Guard Winter 1152 #1

Dad didn't really like this (he's crazy) not perfect but I will definitely look for Mouse Guard Fall at the Library.

Zebraman

If you have I chance to see this you definitely should. I have not seen very many Japanese movies and this is my first Takashi Miike flick, but I will definitely try to watch more Takashi Miike in the future. Zebraman is about a teacher that dresses up as "Zebraman" a Superhero from a TV show. This is a Superhero movie parody and is quite funny at some parts. It might overstay it's welcome about three-quarters into the movie, but the pacing is still about right If you go see I think you will have a hard time being disappointed if you know what it is going in.

My First Week Of Blogging Comics

Comics I Bought (Wednesday 8/22/07)
Black Summer #2
I've really dug the first two issues so heres to hoping this doesn't disappoint.

The Spirit #9
This is definitely one of my two favorite comics and I'm sure this issue will be excellent as usual.

Astonishing X-Men #23
Astonishing has always been good but I hope something big happens before Whedon leaves.

The Immortal Iron Fist #8
Iron Fist oh Iron Fist bring forth thou sweet Kung Fu action

Crossing Midnight #10
I will probably drop this comic after issue 12 or so just because it hasn't really gotten any better.

Batman #667 &
